Penn State Nittany Lions
vs.

Iowa Hawkeyes

This week has been a non-stop waiting game for the Big Game this weekend! I am eagerly anticipating the game and hope that it is not a disappointment!! Having upset the Lions last year just adds to the excitement this year! Happy Valley is expecting a "white out" and I cannot wait!

It's been a pretty quiet week here for Katie and I. After the family left on Sunday, I woke up sicker than a dog on Monday! I don't know exactly what the problem was - but I have only been to work a half day this week so far. Katie of course is totally not sick. She told me that she and Grandma and Grandpa are special they didn't get sick (Matt and his family got the bug too). Not sure why she's left out Aunt Ker and Uncle Glenn from that statement beings they came down last week and didn't get sick either....???? I'm hoping whatever it is passes soon. I'm tired of being sick!!

Just another crazy week...

So, I probably should start out by explaining what in the world Katie was doing... We went to Hancock fabrics on Thursday night to just look around. We like to go and see the craft projects and just look around in general. Well, Katie wanted to get some fabric of her own - after all I was buying some - so I caved and let her. When we got home and started watching Project Runway Katie decided that she was going to make her own outfit out of her new fabric. Then she found my Sarah Palin wig and the rest was hilarious. She'll love these pictures someday I'm sure.
Katie had her first field trip this week at school. She got to go to Indian creek and thought that she was going to get to tag some butterflies. She reported that she had fun, but that she did not get to tag any butterflies - only the people who work at the park get to actually tag them. But, she did see two monarch butterflies on the way home while riding the bus....
She also got her Homework Notebook this week. It is actually a planner that they are working with the kids. She has "homework" that she has to write in there every night and her parent has to initial it when she gets it done. She is so excited and I think that it is pretty neat way to get kids used to using a planner.
I found out this week that we are indeed going to get a new Juvenile Law Center. This will house the Juvenile Courts, Juvenile Probation, Juvenile Clerk of Court, Juvenile County Attorneys... It will not be ready for another 18 months, so until then we are going to be at the Mall of Justice. The funniest thing about our new Juvenile Law Center is that it is being built by the Flying Weinie, a hot dog restaurant that everyone knows in Cedar Rapids. So, we are moving out of the Mall so that we get more respect, but they put us by the Flying Weinie... Whatever!!
And in closing, I wanted to share that I found the fire extinguishers at work on Friday. Some young kid comes into the Mall of Justice and asks for a fire extinguisher because his car is on fire in the parking lot. Have to admit that I didn't have a clue where any of them were. So, I asked our Linn County Deputy and she got one right away for him. It was just his engine on fire and the extinguisher worked... He probably shouldn't have been parking in the Judges spots, but maybe he had no choice???

More Pictures from the Iowa - UNI game

Katie likes to wear glasses - even though they have not been prescribed to her. Her Grandma Shirley helped her out by getting her some cool glasses to wear!

Kids goofing around waiting for the train to come and get us..... Love my Andy, even though he's wearing such a stupid hat!! (Yes, Aunt Kel just said the "s" word)! Notice Katie and Marilyn behind him helping him out!

Frankie wanting his turn! Again, Katie and Andy helping out. Trust me this kills minutes for these kids when waiting in line... they love it!

Marilyn Kathryn and her big smile (and wad of gum)!

Andy, giving Aunt Kel "the look"

Grandma and Grandpa and their pride and joy! Carl was at the game, but he left at halftime to go shopping with Aunt Kerry. We snapped this picture after the game.

Andy and Matt

Glenn and Marilyn hanging out after the game - waiting for everyone to meet up. Glenn's a pretty good sport - he goes to the games and wears his Hawkeye shirt, but he has to have his Red Nebraska visor on as well. We'll have to keep working on him!

My girls at the game. They sat with me and Matt, Mom and Dad took the boys.

Ready to go watch the Hawkeyes!!

Katie cheering at the Iowa / UNI game on Saturday. She spilled my $4.00 bucket of popcorn about $0.75 into it.... I told her that her punishment was that she had to wear the bucket - and she added her Hawkeye headband!!
Katie waiting for the Peprally at Fryfest.

Hayden Herky and Katie at Fryfest on Friday night.
We had a great week this week. We were pretty excited all week for the Football weekend to FINALLY get here! Mom and Dad came down early on Friday and we went to Fryfest - a Celebration of all things Hawkeye. Katie enjoyed the peprally and we had cheerleaders right in front of us! Kerry & Glenn and Matt and the kids came later Friday night and on Saturday we all went to the game except Kerry. Kerry went to the mall and came at halftime to pick up Carl who attended his first Hawkeye game!!
