A little rebellious??

So, as most of you know - Katie has to wear a uniform at school. This Friday they were allowed to wear their "favorite" team apparel for fun. This is how Katie went to school. She said that it was in honor of Uncle Kent. I really think that it was because she wanted to wear her red skirt and this matched. Either way, she's probably the cutest Cyclone I've ever given birth too - ha ha.
Katie has been super busy this week - On Sunday we started off the week with the Girl Scout Rollar Skating party. Even her "old" Mama got out there for an hour and skated. It was like being back in the 70's except there were a lot of little girls to try and not run over.
On Wednesday, Katie and I took the neighbor girl, Natalie to the Iowa Women's Basketball game. We were very happy to come home with a big win over Wisconsin and I thought that we had a great time!!
On Thursday the temperature hit 67 degrees according to my car. Unbelievable for this time of year. I still have a lot of snow on my front lawn however - because even in warm weather it takes time to melt a four foot pile of snow - ha ha... I'm one of the few in the neighborhood that still has any snow. Explains why I have a snow fence - doesn't it??
We are planning a quiet weekend which for us is rare!

Busy Weekend

Katie and Hawkeye watching the "Puppy Bowl" on the Animal Planet Network. Not sure which one is more intently watching.... wish she would pay this much attention to football !?!

Katie and I at the Iowa Women's BB game on Sunday before the Super Bowl. I had to bribe Katie with a promise of getting some Itty Bitz (Dipp'n Dots)....

Katie and Lauren
We had a really busy weekend!! On Friday night we celebrated our friend Mary's birthday - Katie by staying at Mary's house with her daughter having pizza and Kelly by going out with Mary and friends. My head hurt from laughing so hard at supper - I think that I just may have the funniest and funnest friends ever!! Katie and Marisa played their DSi games and Wii all night and she was not happy when I came to pick her up!
On Saturday, Katie had her Indian Creek Nature Center Girl Scout outing. Her new leader is great and they are really getting to do a lot of fun things. Katie had a blast being out in nature and I was quite pleased that the temperature wasn't too cold for all those girls.
Super Bowl Sunday kicked off with Katie and I heading to Iowa City to see the Women's BB team take on the Penn State Nittany Lions. We snuck down to the front row and sat right behind the PSU team bench. Right next to us was the PSU fans - and all five of them were LOUD. Katie sat and played her DSi the whole game, and the Hawks came up short, but it was fun and I can't wait to go back for the Wisconsin game in a couple of weeks!
We then hurried home to get to our friend Heather's house for the Super Bowl game. It was a great game, great food and again, fabulous friends!! I'm extremely happy that the Green Bay Packers are once again Super Bowl Champs!!
When we got home Katie and Hawkeye started watching the Puppy Bowl on Animal Planet. I made the mistake of telling Katie that it was for dogs that needed to be adopted. She then proceeded to beg, plead and borrow to get me to agree that we need another dog. I kept telling her that I could barely handle the one dog we had.... to which she made the promise heard in households around the world, "But Mom, if we get another dog, I'll take care of her!! I promise!!" I laughed and said something to the effect of "yeah, right!". Next thing a I know she is busy writing on a piece of paper which she then hands me and says, "Here it is in writing.... If you initial here, here and sign here like I did you'll believe me that I will take care of the dog." Basically, she presented me with a contract.... I told her that I had to have my lawyer look at it first before signing anything.... Just when I think that she is SO like her father, she does something SO like me!!

Things overheard at the Kaufman home this week

Katie: "Hey Mom, I got a letter in the mail asking me to adopt a cute little kitten named Marshmallow"

Kelly: "Yeah right!"

Katie: "But Mom, out of everyone they TRUST me to take care of this kitty"

Kelly: "I am allergic to cats!"

Katie: "I didn't tell you the worst thing (now with tears in her eyes).... he only has ONE eye. I think he needs me."

We are not getting a cat!!!!!

Things heard around the Kaufman home this a.m......

Kelly: "Katie, did you and Hawkeye have a party last night after I fell asleep??"

Katie to Kelly: "Yes, we had pretzels and watched TV. But it was Hawkeye's fault he made me do it!"

Katie to Hawkeye: "I'll take the blame next time, Hawkeye"

Picture is how I figured out that they were up far later than myself... two sleepy heads!!
